Okay…I need to hunker down for a couple days here… Last night I had a late dinner…out…
Jimmy had given me a gift card for indulge and indulge we did. I had the tacos, a chicouterie board and a guac with pita dish…and 4 burnt bourbons.
Yep…it was good…sadly I just wanted to get out for a wee night with the wife and a drink. It cost me a pound…ish. I hit the grey soul crusher at 235 even this morning. No big deal, I take it easy for the next 10 days and get myself solidly into the 220’s by the end of the month, my goal for August.

I’ve been dealing with some serious back pain for a week or so, enough to drive me in for a torturous massage, and I think I’ll have another today.
It a radiating annoyance that causes my chest to lock up…not good for breathing. But as long as I hunch over like an old man it’s manageable…most of the time.
It does seem to loosen up when running, although I think the reason why it continues as long as it has is due to the running, the movement of my arms back and forth…maybe?
In the past 17 days I’ve run 71 kilometres. Not a bad haul.
So today I will actually ’diet’. I will restrict some amount of food or drink…that means no poker. My diet to- day does not include the 6 or 7 beer I would have tonight at poker…sadly.
Its that or I’ll likely weigh in tomorrow at 236…up up and away.
Battling fat at the man blog
I’ve read lots on the net in regards to diets. The word diet is often considered a bad word as some peoples choice of diet can lead to problems…a donut diet is an example…maybe adkins, paleo, beer, no carb, what have you…
We are all dieting. A diet is just what you eat. What you eat every day, your normal food is your diet. You can choose to restrict these foods you eat, that’s a change of diet. If you’re on the paleo diet you try to eat foods early man ate…good luck…most don’t exist or have genetically modified themselves or been assisted by good old humans.
Low carb…this diet falls under lots of different names…it works. But it is healthiest when done with calorie re- striction also. I’ve read lots of diet books based on low carb and some claim that you can eat as much meat as you’d like….and you can. Your body will not create fat, and will in fact use fat as energy just to digest the meat you’re eating…the issue is your kidneys are getting beaten up.
If you can lower your calories and lower your carbs you can lose weight pretty easily…and for the next 10 days that is what I’ll try to do. I’ve got 3 days before my long run, I’ll have to carb load for that…it’ll be tight to hit ketosis before then but I’ll give it a college try.

Parker is 10 days away from the shakes…and I am sure I saw the look of defeat in Beagle’s eyes the other day…he knows it’s diet or diabetes…
Hey guys…if we actually get down to our goal weight it wouldn’t be that tough to stay there…
We just have to stick to it for 6 months rather than 6 weeks… Kids…We may be fat…but we do try…sometimes.
