Out of the Closet

Out of the Closet

Who? Russett….the Beagle…he has broken his silence….

I have known for some time….lots have, but he wouldn’t let me discuss it here.

There have been some classics. March 8th Russett told me he was trying to learn how to shit properly.

Ya….that life…Russett is now outed…no more scurrying around….
Scurrying….that’s an odd word…

Back on topic….

Anyway, Beagle found himself at the hospital recently, having 8 inches of “foreign” material removed from his colon….

When he told me he was going in I thought it was something more gerbil-sized….Our conversation on Thursday, Feb 26…me “Measurements and weight for February. Need to know how much 2 inches weighs.”
Russett responds, “It’s more like 8 inches.”

I kid you not, I have the text message open in front of me this very second….
You think you know a guy….

Time to be serious. My buddy Russett was diagnosed with Colon cancer. I think in the end Stage 2, which is very manageable.

EDIT: Russett just told me stage 3b, he had cancer in 4 out of 31 lymph node biopsies.

So….ya

They took out 8 inches of his colon, hardly moved the needle on the scale. I haven’t been to poker lately but I think it’s in a jar beside the TV….

Today Russett started Chemo.

Look at that face! I’m glad my buddy Russett is going to make it through this…and who knows, maybe another skinny photo of the 2 of us on the beach in the future….with a pickle jar of his colon along for the ride.

No Weather….I’ll do it later

The Quote of The Day
Friends show their love in times of trouble, not in happiness. ~Euripides

The Beagle and I have been friends for a long time. We have survived a lot, things we could control to some extent, things we could not.
The Sugar Bear shall ring the bell, and we will shuffle many more decks.
