Day 2.10 …There will be pain…

Day 2.10 …There will be pain…

Happy Monday!
What an impressive weekend. I woke up Saturday to 13 kilometres…done.

How was it? It sucked. Painful, 􀢢ring, it wasn’[1] t any fun at all…but I
did it, it’s done.
Once finished running 13 km at 230 pounds one must ice the sore spots…there are a few.
13 seems like nothing though, next Saturday it will be 16 kilometres…then 18, 20…it goes on and on.
Why punish myself? My wife is running the NY marathon and I’m going to train for it with her. There is a slim
chance I’ll run one myself, the Niagara marathon runs a week or 2 before the NY and if memory serves me correct
it’s a good run, downhill…
I’m willing not to bother at this point, mainly because I believe this training program we are doing tops out at
32 km and I don’t think I’ll be willing to push myself the extra 10 for any reason…it wouldn’t be my first rodeo as I
punished myself through a marathon in the past…and it included many miles of rum soaked pain…
Yep, 10 years ago when I was thin I used to go on vacation to run, travel around just to run races…moron…
While driving to pick Syd up from babysi􀢰ng Saturday night I thought I saw Beagle running…some dude, red
hoodie, under 5’2″, late night incognito jogging…could it be Beagle? I mean it really could have been him…the
incognito hoodie makes sense…the late night running…hell I’ve done that when I started running…
I had to ask…a quick text to Beagle…did I see you running last night?

Response…was there a bear chasing the guy? If not then not me…

…some of these gifs I know the guys don’t appreciate…but I really do think Beagle is going to like this one.
Anyway…no bear so I guess that was another neighborhood guy out trying to lose a pound or 2…late night
incognito running.
And I understand it, it’s frigin embarrassing to be out running trying to lose a few pounds. Fat doesn’t flow
just the way it should when your feet are trying to pound it off on the pavement.
This dude was doing it right though, running right out there on the blacktop, avoid the sidewalks…at 200 plus
pounds you can really feel the difference on the pavement over the concrete…you can actually feel the ground give
away a wee bit under your weight…a little bit of cushion…
Sad really…that a surface as hard as pavement has a sober feel under all my weight than concrete…
We take what we can get I suppose…
So…13 km’s and the silver beast still has me at 232.8 pounds. I must break through the 232 barrier this week.
Then again poker is just 2 days away…today we give it a good college try. Plus I will be doing a bit of carpentry
Tuesday and Wednesday that should help…although I beat out a deck with roof yesterday and it had no effect on the
bo􀂂om line…
I even put beer in the fridge to help with the pain and didn’t drink even one drop…seems my only drinking
these days is Wednesday…poker night.
This will be the least I’ve drank over a summer in all my years…
And still fat…what a joy!
Tomorrow is another day, let’s hope another pound along with it.

I’m the one who has to look in the mirror, and a􀁛er a while it begins to eat at you.

There aren’t a lot of John’s quotes published on the net, maybe outside of character he didn’t have a lot to
say…
Looks like a wet week ahead although today is nice and sunny, get out there and sit in the driveway before
you have to shovel it…
